Coordinators' Training and Support Scheme (COTASS)

What is COTASS?

Evelyn Oldfield Unit created COTASS to act as a voice for refugee community organisations. It is serviced by the Evelyn Oldfield Unit, but managed by a steering committee of community organisations. COTASS is a very proactive forum, which will:

  • Coordinate responsive action
  • Influence Policy
  • Reflect grass roots perspectives

 

What are the membership criteria?

A coordinator can be a member if their organisation or project is:

  • Well established and well formulated
  • Providing a service for refugees
  • Supporting the purpose of the forum
  • A member of the Evelyn Oldfield Unit

What can you expect COTASS to provide your organisation with?

  • A space to reflect on issues of concern
  • Help to increase productivity and realise aims
  • The opportunity to meet and work with similar organisations
  • A unified voice for pan-refugee needs and requirements

COTASS is an inclusive forum.
Each member will have the right to:

  • Express their views clearly.
  • Attend all forum functions.
  • An equal vote.
  • Be elected to and elect the steering commitee.
  • Receive minutes, reports and other communication.
  • Attend special events organised by the Evelyn Oldfield Unit in celebration of refugee community organisations' holidays and cultural days.

Membership will be terminated if a member:

  • Fails to attend three consecutive meetings.
  • Brings the name of the forum into disrepute.

All members are required to:

  • Attend forum meetings.
  • Actively participate in promoting the aims & objectives of the forum.
  • Take on duties as determined by the forum.
