Building the Big Society: Refugee & Migrants Engagement Programme This is a new volunteering programme run by the Evelyn Oldfield Unit and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. The aim is to support more people from BAMER backgrounds to access local and meaningful volunteering opportunities, where they are able to share their talents & skills to the local community through volunteering, while at the same time, develop new skills and experiences that will increase their own job and life prospects.
We have a dedicated member of staff who will be leading on this programme and will be working alongside the community groups to set up: 1) VOLUNTEER NETWORK - Creating and facilitating a pan-London Volunteer Network for Refugee & Migrants & BME community organisations - with 4 forums in each geographic quadrant - bringing together RMCOs, mainstream organisations and volunteers to develop good practice and provide a 'think-tank' for generation of sustainable and high impact volunteering projects locally.
Please contact Sam for more information or advice about volunteering or ideas for link-ups. You may also subscribe to our Volunteering Network mailing group or follow us on twitter for volunteering updates and news. SUBSCRIBE TO THE VOLUNTEERING NETWORK MAILING GROUP
