PART-TIME DEVELOPMENT WORKER POST Scale PO2 pt36 - £33,310 including ILW pro-rata
for 21 hours per week

The Evelyn Oldfield Unit (EOU) is a high profile refugee and migrant-led second-tier organisation at the forefront of developing the capacity of the refugee and migrant sector. It is passionate about the values of cultural diversity, community leadership and creating a step change towards more inclusive services for refugee and migrant clients of the refugee, migrant and mainstream voluntary sector.

We are looking for energetic and a highly committed individual with lots of initiative to bring about these changes over the next years. You will join a team of Development Workers in delivering training, group facilitation and one-to-one support and developing new models and interventions to support the work of Refugee and Asylum Seekers’ Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Organisations. The main focus will be on organisational integration opportunities between the refugee, migrant and mainstream sectors, partnerships and collaborative working.

The Unit is looking for a candidate with the following experience and qualities:-

  • at least two years’ experience of delivering capacity-building via training and direct work with small community organisations, including refugee and/or migrant organisations; and

  • Working closely with local mainstream voluntary sector organisations; and

  • proven expertise in the following areas:-
    Evaluation and monitoring (particularly community impact evaluation processes); community engagement models; facilitation of change / mergers / partnerships / closures; andvolunteer management

  • Initiative and ability to think and plan strategically

  • a good understanding of the role of the voluntary sector and the specific issues that refugee and migrant organisations and communities face;

  • Commitment to the values of the Evelyn Oldfield Unit and particularly the principle of self determination for refugee and migrant organisations, equality, and respect.
